One of the functions of Ensign 318 Versatoil is to control the formation of oxidized oil by-products, such as excessive tack, gum deposits, varnish and carbon. All oils oxidize to some extent, even under normal conditions, but the rate of oxidation is accelerated considerably when it is exposed to heat, moisture, fumes, or excessive aeration.

Ensign 318 Versatoil should be used as an additive to compressor oil. In most cases, only 10% is required to control the inevitable problems caused by oxidation and to dissolve existing formations. Versatoil is compatible with all compressor oils, and is neutral, so as not to upset the chemical balance of the oil to which it is added. In cases where carbon is already present, Versatoil will slowly dissolve the varnish-like carbon binder without purging the compressor, thus appreciably reducing down time and maintenance.
